API4client™: the fast and convenient way to your translation
Complex translation projects often require significant time and resources from all parties involved. Files must be transferred to the service provider accurately and in a structured format. To eliminate this often labor-intensive and time-consuming process, KERN has developed its own REST API (API4client™), which enables:

- Standardized file transfer and processing
- Flexible and optimized management of large translation orders
Customized solutions – tailored to your needs
Our translation engineers support you throughout the development of a middleware or plug-in to connect your system to the API. This removes the need for manual import and export of individual documents, resulting in significant time savings. Direct integration of the REST API with portal4client™ allows files to be exchanged and all relevant project parameters to be transferred automatically to KERN. As a result, projects initiated in the customer system can be fully automated. All jobs are processed via a status-based workflow within the API. This ensures process reliability and enables status-dependent functionality within the API. Once quality assurance has been completed and the translation finalized, the finished content can be retrieved fully automatically from the customer system via the REST API.
Depending on the system to be integrated and its available extension options (e.g. via an SDK), a plug-in can be created to transfer key information related to the translation process. This includes, for example, the direct creation of projects from the customer system, specification of target languages, real-time status updates, cost estimates, or overviews of existing projects.
Integration between API4client™ and the customer system is also possible without a plug-in. In this case, the middleware controls when new projects are created and which target languages are assigned. If additional requirements for the translation process arise, the functions of API4client™ can be adapted to meet your needs at any time.

Fast import and export of your texts using plug-ins
We support you in the development of a plug-in for connecting content management systems (CMS) or product information management (PIM) systems to the API interface.
The plug-in transfers content directly from your CMS or PIM to our system via the API interface. Once the texts have been translated and proofread, they are transferred back to the CMS/PIM via the API.
Simply put: using this plug-in enables much faster content transfer without the need for manual text export or import. This also eliminates common sources of error associated with copy-and-paste processes. In addition, it reduces both time and costs.

The KERN webshop webshop4client™ allows translation jobs to be placed in an intuitive shop environment. After analysis and price calculation, these jobs can be transferred to your OCI- or cXML-enabled systems together with all relevant information. In addition to the interface functionality, a standard ordering process is also available in the webshop. This allows you to place orders directly from the shopping cart without switching to your own ordering system.

By integrating webshop4client™ into your purchasing environment, language services can be commissioned directly. Order data is then transferred automatically to your ordering system. This significantly simplifies the entire ordering process. An efficient workflow is also ensured: the shopping cart is filled with translation jobs and can be ordered with a single click. The relevant data (shopping cart content, cost center, price) is transferred to your ordering system via OCI or cXML PunchOut. Further project processing then takes place via a workflow-based process in our customer portal portal4client™. You will be notified as soon as the target files are available for download. Overall, order processing is significantly faster and more efficient.
