Certified translations according to ISO standards at KERN
Here you will find an overview of our quality standards and certifications.
Quality and project management
An active and intensive exchange of information takes place between KERN and its customers. This exchange begins before the translation itself:
- What type of text is it?
- What is the purpose of the translation?
- How urgently is the translation required?
- Are terminology lists or glossaries available?
- Is the use of a workflow tool such as portal4client™ suitable for the translation project?
This detailed information enables us to tailor our quality management approach. Our highly qualified team not only guarantees the highest linguistic precision, but also the efficient and timely completion of translation projects.
For purchasing departments, this means clear, transparent processes, predictable project implementation, and consistently stable quality – even for large-scale or critical projects.
Quality control and proofreading
Quality assurance at KERN Global Language Services is based on the dual control principle, which means that a native-speaking translator translates your text into the target language and another native speaker then proofreads the final version. This standardized procedure reduces error rates, creates documented traceability, and strengthens your position in audits and compliance reviews.
In addition, KERN evaluates every translation project together with its customers. At this stage, feedback by the ordering party is particularly important and helpful. This is the only way we can continue to improve our processes.
Upon request, further native speaker translators can proofread the translated text in terms of its content, grammar and orthography.
Formal checks
Upon request, we also check the files in both languages for potential formal mistakes and correct them where necessary with the help of specific quality assurance tools. KERN’s tools comprise, for example, a tag verifier, spell checker, terminology verifier and a check for missing text. Similarly, date, time and number formats can be checked.
This ensures that consistency and compliance with standards are always guaranteed, especially in complex technical translations such as operating instructions, contracts, or safety regulations.
Ensuring IT security for customer orders
KERN Global Language Services employees and project managers receive regular training on IT security issues, including the secure handling of customer-related order data and documents. Customer orders are always processed in compliance with data protection regulations and in accordance with applicable IT standards.
Our processes are also based on ISO/IEC 27001 in order to meet data protection and information security requirements when translating sensitive content.
Additional quality assurance tools from KERN Global Language Services
Other quality assurance tools that KERN uses (e.g. ErrorSpy) further enable terminology and consistency checks. This ensures that KERN’s translators render the previously specified, corporate terms in the terminology database correctly and also translate identical segments consistently. Using self-defined criteria, the translation is evaluated and a list of potential mistakes drawn up. We then send this list to the translators for review and correction.

KERN suppliermanagement
Do you have domain-specific texts that need to be translated by a specialist translator? Then you are in the right place at KERN! In coordination with your KERN project manager, the KERN supplier management team finds and selects the correct specialist translators as per your project requirements.
How KERN secures qualified translators for your project
Potential translators are asked to provide a sample translation depending on their area of expertise. After this test translation has been evaluated, we decide whether the translator will be admitted into the translator pool. Only then will we consider the translator for future assignments.
The translators are constantly evaluated during the course of the project. Comments concerning the specialist quality, reliability, availability, flexibility, and technical skills are entered into the database by the KERN project managers and then reviewed by the supplier management department. The comments guarantee that we always have a good idea of the translators’ skills. That means KERN can always provide the best translators for your project.
